condensed fiberglass info/where to buy thread

Not sure if many of you guys know about this stuff, so I thought I'd let you all know. This stuff is called Ultratouch, and it is an evironmentally friendly cotton insulation made from 85% recycled denim. Acoustically, 3.5 inches of this stuff is equivelant to 4 inches of OC 703. At 125Hz it has an NRC of .97, and from 250Hz upwards its NRC is above 1.0. Also, this stuff is completely safe - it contains no dangerous fibers or particles and causes absolutley NO skin irritation whatsoever. It is 100% percent safe.
Not enough you say? Well, each natural fiber of UltraTouch is saturated with a natural fire retardant (borates) giving UltraTouch insulation a Class-A fire rating. UltraTouch also contains active mold inhibitors and acts as an excellent pest, mold and mildew inhibitor.

You can check this stuff out here:
UltraTouch

And here is a place you can order the stuff:
UltraTouch Prices

I have no idea what shipping would be like on this stuff, but if you go to the Bonded Logic website and click "Find a Distributor", just follow the instructions and you should be able to find a supplier in your area.

Just giving ya'll a heads up! ;)

EDIT: Forgot to mention, in the prices link that I gave, the R-13 is a 3.5" thickness, and the R-19 is a 5.5" thickness.
stufffffffff

How many fiberglass panels do you think i can make for $50? I was gonna spend $100 but i had some unexpected bills to pay. I wanna get the fiberglass panels first, and then i wanna get some auralex foam.

Do you think Safe n' Sound is best for panels?

click the very first link in this thread, and read ethen winters sight.
(link also in the first post)

From Ethan winer's article, OC 703 has a coefficient of 0.17 at 125Hz while Safe n Sound has 0.52. This means that Safe n Sound will be much more effective at low frequencies. Also from the article, OC 705 has a coefficient of 0.60 at 125Hz, which is quite close to the Safe n Sound. And from the Roxul website for Safe n sound, the NRC is 1.05, which is reasonably higher than the OC 703 and 705. I guess this is a good choice afterall.

Here in Edmonton, you can get the Roxul Safe 'n Sound panels at all sorts of places (Totem, Rona, Home Hardware, Home Depot etc).

Prices as of today:

12 pack of 16"x48"x3" $30.97
8 pack of 24"x48"x3" $30.97

Each pack covers about 60 sq. feet. I figure I'll need one pack of each.

Not all stores carry the 24" wide. The Home Depot on 50th Street does though. Rona had to order it.

Ottawa Fibre products, specifically the OFI-48 and OFI-64 (http://www.ofigroup.com/) are supposed to be extremely similar to the OC 700 series.

These OFI products are available through ISOFAB at several locations:

I have tested the OFI in lab. Works alright for mid ans hi absoption. But not for making corner bass traps.

Could you recommend a better product? The frequency absorption specs look pretty similar to OC 703.

Thanks.

AH! I was looking for this thread the other day to give to somebody but couldn't remember which website it was on for the life of me. Thanks for the bump.
