Hey, quick question... I'm using an Allen and Heath ZED 428 for some recording. I know I can only get at best a stereo output via usb but I can't get ProTools to recognize it. I start with my computer off, hook everything up and then turn it on but all it will list in the playback engine setup is a vague reference and when I select that it doesn't work. Can't setup the I/O... nothing. Help.

which version of pro tools are you using? have you got the most up to date driver for the zed 428?

the allan and heath website here but it doesn't show any drivers to download so it may be an ASIO thing. it may be worth trying ASIO4ALL - Universal ASIO Driver and seeing if their driver helps

not that i can think of, unless it's one of the protools which needs specific software, although i thought regular protools 9 wasn't fussy.
my quick suggestion is to try it in garageband and see if garageband sees it. if so it's a protools problem, if not it's a driver problem

Have you tried resetting the inputs to default in the I/O settings?
