Acoustic Fabric for My Panels ?

Hey guys, I just finished building the frames around my owens corning acoustic panels that are 4' x 2' x 2". I am now ready to wrap them with fabric. I read a lot and hear about using standard burlap or woven fabric but personally, my home studio is quite colorful and I'm looking to have more of a design on these fabrics. I read that polyester is fine to use but cotton is not and a lot of designed fabrics happen to be cotton. However, 100% polyester shower curtains have some really sick music designs on them. My question is, would it be ok? I mean it is 100% polyester, just with rings on top that I'm going to rap behind the panel anyway. Here is a link to one I'm talking about on amazon. Lmk, Id really appreciate the advice because I'm not to trained in acoustic treatment.

Take a look at Guilford of Maine:

I think that their FR701 series is a favorite for wrapping acoustic panels. Their Anchorage line is good as well. The others listed there are all under the "acoustic" section, but I can't speak for their performance on an acoustic panel. I have a few FR701 Bone and a few Anchorage Angora wraps on my various panels.

GoM will send you free samples, so you can see and touch them yourself before making a decision. I don't think that they sell directly to the public, so you'll have to find a reseller.

Good luck!

If you can breathe through it, the cloth will not be affecting the ability of the acoustic absorber to do what it does. Now, the fire hazard of the cloth may be something to think about tho...

I used thin cotton sheets for my last batch. Not sure why someone would indicate cotton is no good. Like Jimmy said, if you can breath through it, it'll work.
