For me at least. It was fun and all before. But it looked decidedly messy - At least by this standard - And had a horrid, case of jungle-zed studio spaghetti - There was a floor, undergrowth and a canopys worth.... lol The usual problem of acquiring new gear and being to excited to try it out to be bothered with how or where the cables fell. This time neatness is key. I got about 1k velcro 6" and 10" ties and everything is actually tidy.

Pardon the pics - This is a proud new papa - Tho waiting on my acoustic treatements is KILLING ME (I've already ARC'ed the room - Ready to get some bass traps, baffles and the SFS sono-columns up!! Tho, in reality - It's probably good that I have to wait on the treatments, because - I REALLY need to pain the walls something other than frican' beige! :)

About 70%+ of the gear is new/newly replaced - Pardon the bandwidth, but there's a lot of pics from a proud new papa... :D

Though its a bit hard to believe - This is the same room, but in "junk" furniture and a weak, improvised, and thoroughly amateurish MESS.... Geez, stuff is spilling off the already overloaded desktop. Every time I look back at the way the studio was just a week ago makes me cringe-ugh... lol

Thanks man - Got word last nite that my treatments have shipped out.

Now I gotta get to lowes and start painting... :)

Got one of UAs very last of the DCS Remote-Preamps that is also supposed to be shipping today. Those were the last two pieces of this order I was waiting on.... :)

Glad to see another Carvin player !!!! How do you like the Boss GT10. I have a GT8 that I DI alot. Many people have problems recording with them. But its always due to improper set up of the input/output levels and the output mode. I thaught about getting the GT10, but I havent really compared the difference between it and the 8.

I LOVE the GT10 mostly because Ive always been a fan of COSM modelling more than AIR (tho youll note there is an X3 Pro in there - lol)

I never had the 8, but I had a 6 and a GT-Pro for a while, and in my mind, and ear, the GT-10 is the better sounding unit.

That being said, I dont think I've been able to pull my self away from the Fractal Audio Axe-FX and the discovery of impulses... :)

And YES - Another fellow Carvinite!!! They have built three one-offs that I dont know would be possible for others... A Jason Becker tribute, specially-cured all-koa ST300 and this - Burl Birdseye Maple/Black Walnut/Alder/BlackWalnut/Burl Birdseye back. The headstock is constructed the same way. And even the neck is 5pcs - 5x5x5 lol!!! They even cut me a birdseye truss cover as a tiny freebie. ;) This build-package is called the "Elite" and I can see why. Shows Carvin and the Kiesels can compete with the boutique shops, and do it for a smidge over $2k... ;)

More pics of it here -http://roblevene.com/guitar_collection_concise1/burl_727/

Jeez, 'jacking my own thread...:D

I added a couple more baffles and bass traps, sound-construction 14spc low-boy rack, Avalon U5 and an Axon 100 & 50 to the mix. I never seem to fully settle on gear... lol

That's one great piece of paradise you got there.;)
Pretty expensive stuff too. Do you record yourself or others? Welcome to the site! :)

Awesome setup my friend. Love the skateboards on the wall.:D
You should get some nice hardwood floors in there too.
I would forsure come record with you, if I was near by. :)

^ ATM I've ordered the bigger of the SonoColumn and SonoFlat sets in charcoal. I like the way the SF panels sound and look at my friends studio, next up are bass traps which I havent committed to... :)

I record myself ATM, but after treatment and new flooring - It's open to the public. It's my upstairs room - 14x20 with a bathroom and closet. :)

Cool. You might want to think about turning those monitors so that they're oriented vertically rather than horizontally. You're likely causing more problems than your solving, even if it keeps the tweeter at ear height. Just a suggestion.

Frank

^ Is that because the monitor stands are a bit on the errrumm, short-ish side? lol :D Or the proximity to the corners and windows?

Or all of the above? ;)

That particular "shortcoming" was immediately apparent - Im in no way against getting some that are taller. Would that be a better approach?

I've just always preferred the tone and aesthetics of 'em sides-a-ways... ;)

Thanks man!!

It's not the stands really. It's because you're throwing the LF and HF drivers out of alignment. They're meant to be placed vertically, and as long as they're aligned then they create a wide stereo field even when you move your head from side to side. The way you have them is almost certainly creating time-based peaks and nulls.

Frank

Thanks for the advice - Advice now taken. There is a discernable difference.

Also, I got the sonoflats and columns up as a start. Ill try to take some pics today. :) Thanks again man.
