Why do speaker simulators always sound horrible and not like correctly used IRs at all?
Take, for example, my recording out on my blackstar HT60. It sounds muddy and disgusting. Its not at all what the amp actually sounds like.

From what I've heard of Palmer speaker simulators, its the same, yet I've heard they are used on professional recordings.
They don't sound good to me at all. They sound hollow and muffled, boxy and poop.

In fact, the only time I've ever heard a good sound is with impulse responses with an active loadbox done in a Peter Thorn video.
Why can't they bottle IRs in an inexpensive sansamp type unit to be sold for us poor people that cant afford torpedos and palmers?

Am I just doing something wrong??

If you are going to use the speaker simulator, you can't expect it to sound like the amp does in the room. You need to change the amp settings to get it to sound useable.

The reason IR's are not cheaply put in stuff is because they take a decent amount of processing power, which is not cheap.
