What is at the core of your home studio?

The core of my recording endeavors is my Tascam 244. Why, because in 1984/5 when I bought it, that was some pretty fancy equipment.

The damn sources (so room, amps and instruments).

I will always toss money at those things first as they seem to have the biggest impact on the end result.

I would consider my Lynx Aroura and Apollo to the "hub" of my setup. Obviously nothing would work without my computer, but the DA interface(s) is where any and all external audio gets input and output. So for me, the converters and monitoring these provide are the cornerstone because they do dictate the sound going in and coming out. I bought the apollo as my "mobile" DA unit, but it wound up becoming my monitoring box as well as a "backup" for the Lynx.

Me and my brain, such as it is. It all starts there.....and here.
