track problems

Hey, when I'm just using a cheap multitrack recorder called audacity on my computer. The problem is, after the first track, the following tracks have a delay on them and aren't in time with the first one. They also don't sound as good. Is this a cheap sound card thing? It's a P4 w/ 516 mb ram and 40 gig hard drive. I tried the demo of n-track too, same thing happened. Thankx

I'd put my money on it being a soundcard issue. How and what are you recording? Any mixer or pre-amp involoved?

It could be a sound card issue? What type of sound card are you using? However, it could also be a driver issue. Bad sound card drivers are notorious for causing all kinds of problems, including latencies
