Stereo Image

I was just listening to "Factory Girl" by Whiskeytown and was blown away by the amazing stereo image of the acoustic guitar. I can't tell if it was just done with proper mic placement, but it seems too clean to be only two mics in, for example, ortf. Does anyone know how this was recorded? Thanks.

I don't know the song myself.
In asking about miking technique of other acoustic guitar sounds that I thought the clean wide spread was incredible, it more times than not was a Mid Side set up.

I know that song well.

Unless you're talking about the first 15 seconds, there are two acoustic guitars playing, one panned left and one panned right (about 30%?) That, and Ryan Adams' fantastic timekeeping so the guitars are really tight, is the main reason the stereo image is wide.

But there's also a huge room sound on the recording. Could be verb, or a nice stereo pair way back in the room, but either way it's like another instrument, filling out the stereo field.
