Sound fluctuations when miking guitar amp

Hi, so like the title says... Basically I can hear a difference in frequencies every so often when miking a guitar amp. Its a Line 6 spider head. I know, not the greatest. So what could cause this???

What mic/interface/DAW are you using? What kind of 'fluctuations' (frequency, volume, tone?) Can you post a sample?

Delta 44, Art MP, shure 57, Quad core, Cubase 5. It sounds like the frequencies and volume; happens randomly. Almost like the mic is moving by it's self.

Try adjusting the mic position first. If you have it at an angle, it may be picking up reflections as well as the direct sound. If you or anything in the room is moving around, or if you have standing waves happening, that could affect what the mic is 'hearing'.

I have it in a bed room with the door closed so I think you might be right about it picking up reflections. I'm gonna see what happens when the door is left open. Thanks!
