okie....... how do I record bag pipes.... hehehe 1 mic for chanter other for drones??? tips pleeeze... need help bad

The way to record bagpipes is far, far away.
Preferably while wearing earplugs.

On a more serious note...
Use a condenser mic, give it a considerable amount of distance (2 to 4 ft.), and start with the trim all the way down and work it up slowly.

Okay... I'm guessing on this... I admit it.
The last time I heard bagpipes on a recording was at the end of the song "Killer Queen" by Queen.

Yo Sabith:

First, take a litmus test if you're recording bagpipes.

Second, put a bag on the mic to enhance the pipes from the bag to the mic covered by the bag.

May these words bring a little cheer into the Highland Fling.

Wear kilts while recording to enhance the sound.

3ft away as they are very dynamic and LOUD!!!
stereo span about 4 feet aimed down at the performer. The sond comes from the whole of the instrument not the parts singular.
