I’d like a really up front close sound – I’ve managed to achieve this by stereo micking with a pair of AKG C1000s in the past, but currently I only have a Rode NT1A and a single C1000s. Can I still get some good results with these?

Any suggestions?

I’ve heard that using the small condenser on the twelfth fret and the NT1A a little distance away might give me a nice sound, but I’m keen to try a few options.

Thanks.

Matt

P.S. I'm a bit of a lurker on this site, but have garnered lots of info over the last few months. You guys rock!

That's a good starting point: SDC about 50cm from 12th fret, NT1a about same distance from the body. Avoid pointing directly into the sound hole.
