Re-recording same track with effects

Day two all good!

Output 1 to external to input 2 works a treat leaving 3 & 4 obsolete because if I route through those I lose monitoring - thanks Focusrite! :)

My old Editorl UA something 25EX thingy had monitor speaker outputs where as this doesn't and the headphones didn't hijack output ports, moral of the story? Download the manual BEFORE you buy and make sure the monitoring is dedicated and not hijacking your outputs :)
 
Routing the headphone mix to a pair of line inputs isn't uncommon.
There's usually a mute option or a separate volume control, so if you don't want the headphone out going to that pair you can pull the fader down.

Focusrite specs seem to suggest this is the case.

To be fair, the majority of people using 4 line outputs are going to have a pair of monitors and a headphone amp, I guess.
