[SOLVED] Preamp signal chain

Hi, me and my friend are about to record our first album but we are having some disagreements over the preamp signalchain.

We are using a Line 6 Pod HD Pro (not plugged in via usb cause it gives our computer bluescreen for some reason),
and since we dont own a poweramp we are using a Behringer Ultragain Pro Mic2200 to line the guitars into the interface.
But we are disagreeing about the signal chain.

I say: Guitar -> HD Pro -> Behringer -> Interface
He says: Guitar -> Behringer -> HD Pro -> Interface

I think his signalchain doesnt make any sense and vice versa.
Would love to get some input on who is right, who is wrong and why.

Thanks!

Well...I would say you're both wrong. :)

Just go: Guitar -> HD Pro ->Interface.

What do you need the Ultragain for when the HD Pro has a line out on the back...?

When I tried Guitar -> HD Pro ->Interface the signal was way to weak so the Ultragain was used as a boost.
But my friend has a different interface were the input level can be adjusted.

Thanks for your answer!

Check the settings on the HD Pro--my old Line 6 Pod xt has different settings for the level of the output signal. So, it's guitar -> Pod xt -> interface. The output from the Pod is plenty strong enough. I would be shocked if the HD Pro's outputs can't be customized in this way. The Pod's manual is very helpful and straightforward about the different settings, and I'm sure that the HD's manual is no different.
