mic recording problems with M-audio

hey guys,
im using a computer based recording system, and for right now my ONLY input device is one condenser mic. I put that mic in through a new m-audio omni i/o interface into the MIC/INS XLR jack number 1. Everything so far is going fine, The only problem now is that when i put it into jack one The interface only records and recgognizes the left side! When i switched it to the other plug it defaults to the right side. How do i fix things so the mic will record on both left and right?

In whatever software you are using, you need to set up a mono track & set the record input for that track to the left input from your omni i/o. Currently, you are trying to record a mono signal onto a stereo track.
