M-Audio Fast Track Ultra USB 2.0 Audio Interface

I am in search of a good quality (clean) USB pre-amp interface with at least 4 XLR phantom powered inputs and which can do multi-track recording, and, thus far, I am told that the "M-Audio Fast Track Ultra" fits the bill quite well.

But, I have these questions:

1). Is there anything else out there that compares to the quality and features of the "Fast Track Ultra" interface?

2). If I were to have recorded thru the “Fast Track Ultra,” lets say, 4 tracks into a computer sound recording software, can I then proceed to play these (as a mix of only two channels of course) back thru the "Fast Track Ultra" (to my headphones) and then, while listening to these, add (lets say) 2 more independent tracks, making now a total of 6 individual computer tracks, with them all ready to play together as a synchronized unit, and now also ready for some final mixing/editing?

In other words, can I add other tracks to some that have already been recorded?

Thanks much, Alan.

Yes, this is a function of your DAW - the software you use.

Dear mjbphotos,

Thanks for that info (per, answer to question #2).

Now, as to my other question:

1). Is there anything else out there that compares to the quality and features of the "Fast Track Ultra" interface?

Thanks, Alan.
