So me and my roommate, are deciding to start up a home recording set up, we are rappers from Canada. We are looking for a laptop with 6-8gb of ram, usb 3, we're going to be buying an usb audio interface.

Software we will be using is Logic Pro, and possibly Reason 7.

Any ideas?

RAM looks good, I've not seen any USB3 interfaces, at this point, I am not sure it would make a difference as USB is just a data transfer and USB2 does well. The real power is in the Interface's AD/DA converters.

I would say if you have the cash, I would go with a quad core Chip. If you go Apple, Intel is your only choice, if you go with Windows, AMD has some pretty nice chips and run about 20% less than Intel based Chips. Make sure the Hard drive is either SSD or 7200 RPM hard drive (on traditional HDs, 500 Gb is about as high as you want for performance).

Anything in that range should work for 90%+ of your needs.
