How would you get this drum sound?

Hi guys, I am new to the forum and happy to be here..
I am doing an advertising music whose drum must be based in the following song's drum part ( please listen especially when the music grows at it most ).
What do you hear? These days I am recording a drummer but I guess I't not that easy... will I be able to get that sound just with an appropiate (plugin) compression and reverb? or, for example, should I add samples or hardware processing? (or even record special SD or BDs, which I don't have at the time ).

Seems to me that it's drowned in reverb. Unless you have the same kit, you won't get the same sound, of course. From 0:05 to 0:08, you get a snare and some toms without too much bleed from the guitar. Try using those samples. and see what results you get.
 
Lots of gated reverb there. Otherwise it's a standard, smashed rock drum sound to my ears.
