how to get a warm, analog sound from a digital recorder?

You could always try playing all the tracks through your monitors and putting up a couple of mikes to catch the rooms sound then add that as a low level backing track for simulated ambiance.
I have never tried this myself though someone else may have views.....

Don't really have a problem with digital, even the cheapest junk, but here are a few things I've noticed. depending on style all this genre all this stuff is moot - edm tracks can probably reverse the polarity of all this stuff

Record flatter tracks
roll off a little high end on individual tracks
Watch out for a hyped high end on the mix
use darker verbs (plates) with band pass filters on the inputs
record guitars with amps and microphones
use different mics for different sources instead of one mic for everything
work hard on a bass sound - watch out for growly over-processed bass
make the vocal the centerpiece
place virtual instruments like pianos in a proper space and pay attention to detail regarding eq - look out for unnatural sounds or things that sound 'hyper real'
pay close attention to dynamics on virtual instruments - for example most piano players don't play at a constant volume and absolute tempo through a song
watch out for drum vstis with over processed individual samples that play a constant pattern, with constant dynamics at an absolute, un-human tempo
