eq monitors or not?

a friend sent me this info on open cell foam, it's a head scratcher for sure. the frequencies i'm missing are the ones least absorbed. weird.

Icynene Spray Open Cell Foam Insulation percentage of sound absorption:

PRODUCT THICKNESS DENSITY 125HZ 250HZ 500HZ 1000HZ 2000HZ 4000HZ NRC
Icynene 4" (100mm) 0.5lb 0.11 0.43 0.89 0.72 0.71 0.67 0.70

moral of the story: learn the sound of your monitors and don't chase your tail eqing speakers.

And you can see that the coefficient of absorbtion is almost nothing at low frequencies.
Until you do a real room plot using a sweep (not pink noise) with a tool such as room eq wizard, you really don't have any idea what is going on in the room.

And to add, the room itself (regardless of and before treatment) can be the cause of HUGE peaks and nulls in the frequencies you are-or are not hearing. There is much more to it than basic absorption.

There is no definitive calculator to find what your room needs. Size, construction, materials, monitor placement, desk or monitor stands, etc... will all have an effect on what you hear.

Without properly testing your specific room, you are just grasping at straws trying to guess what the real issues are.
