beats/sounds softwares

I'm using Fruity Loops for beats and for programming things with soundfonts and samples and so on.

What are good programs for this which don't cost a bomb? Anybody know if anything they have is more useful than Fruity?

If your talking about samples to use in Fruity Loops. Then I would suggest that you can find them quite easily. Some you can find free online. and others will cost you. I spent about $100 on Drumkit fron Hell. Well worth the money if you are looking for a pro Rock drum sound. I guess it depends on what kind of samples you need.
