Background noise...

Does anyone have any tips on eliminating interference from radio stations and such? I try to record stuff with a mic or my guitar but the radio is so loud in the background (meaning the mic cable pics it up).

Get a better mic cable.
If it's properly shielded, it shouldn't pic up radio interference.

Are you sure it's the cable? I'm more used to it being the guitar...

It's something else...

Thanks regebro, but actually i realized that it is probably the amp that i hook my mic (or guitar) to. If i plug the guitar or mic directly into my sound card there is no noise, but my sound card does't have enough amplification for me to get a good enough volume. Plus it only has one input. Is there any way to get rid of the sound caused by the amp? Or is it even possible that the amp picks up the radio signal? Thanks:

Does the amp play the radio for you even when nothing is plugged in? Then it is the amp. I have no idea of how to get rid of that on an amp...
