i just got one of these and i was using it on a snare, and at first i had a lil of boards pres turned up (like at 9 o'clock), and it was clipping so i turned it down and it still clipped so then i took the +20db off and it still clipped. well any ways i got it to stop clipping, but i cant help but feel i wasnt using it at its full potential, is there any position on the iput and output knobs i should start out with? plus am i gonna have this problem when i use it for vocals? thanx

Are you running the XLR output of the ART to the mic pre on a console???? If you are, you are missing the role of a outboard mic pre amp. Try running the ART output to the tape deck input directly. I am sure that at this point you will have no problem setting the level.

I am considering purchasing an ART tube mp...
At around $100, is it really going to be better than the pre-amps in my Ramsa 24 channel board?

I would like to "warm up" my sounds...Whatever that means?

Those who have experience with these boxes, please share your thoughts..

Thanks;

Hey, Dom - check out what jnorman has to say about this in the Mic Forum (Topic: micing violins).
