Add some sizzle to your drum tracks....

Lately I have been adding a simple Tamborine part to most of my drum tracks. Just a hit on beats 2 and 4 (With the snare). I add a good amount of reverb, even when the drum track is dry. I keep the level of the Tamborine way down...it cuts through the High Freq. real well. This works for live drums, and especially well for drum machine parts. The fact that your timing is not perfect (Like the machine), works in your favor to make the track sound more real!

For those of you with only 4 tracks to work with; play "live" through a microphone, mixed in with the drum machine as you record to your multi-track. Keep it low in the mix!
It doesn't take much to add a little sizzle.
