Acoustic Guitar Recording

I have had some trouble recording acoustic guitar, I keep getting booming sounds coming through on the play back.
I am thinking it is the bass from the guitar and would like to know if that could be fixed in mixing. Is it my mic?
Could it be my guitar, it is a Takamine mid to low end guitar.

Move the mic to a place it sounds less bommy.

a one mic setup, a one foot out by one foot up can help get the boom out.
the sound hole can add boom, so angle the mic away from the soundhole might help.
