Zoom MRS 1608

Hi - I'm a newbie to this forum and wandered if anyone could help with a few questions I have about the Zoom MRS 1608. Before I take the plunge and part with the cash I have a few questions:

Can I record voice and use in a track ?

What PC software is the unit compatible with?

Can the unit be used as a PA mixing desk ?

On play back can it be hooked up to speakers ?

Many thanks

might answer some of your questions. I consider the need to buy an extra unit to enable USB connection totally unacceptable these days, especially when you consider a quite decent 16 bit interface such as the Behringer UCA 202 retails for about $30! The "bits" are probably cents.

Yes, it COULD feed a PA but those unbalanced RCA outputs might be a bother. No it cannot drive speakers unless they are "active" speakers. It seems that the old style mulitracker is stuck in a time warp and does not embrace the needs of the modern Home Recordists?

I think I speak for may here when I say a good interface, Tascam or one of the gen ll Focusrites and a computer based system would be much more flexible. Have a good long think and download LOTS of reviews and manfctrs user manuals.

Dave.
