yamaha aw16g not powering up

Are you getting any errors on the display before the screen turns off? Those recorders are like mini-computers so there could be various issues. Do you hear any noises from the machine when you try to power it up? Especially noises coming from the HDD such as clicking, spinning, grinding, crunching, etc? When the screen lights up, does it flicker at all or go as bright as it once did, or does it simply crash right away? How long does it light up for if it does light up?

no error messages, no noise, no flicker. lights up, no messages, dies. mostly doesn't even light up, nothing. once or twice did see the aw16w message(first message that normally would come on) but quickly turns off. could it be the power cord or spot where power cord is plugged into? just ordered a new power cord & keeping fingers crossed that it may be that simple

If you have a multimeter then check the voltage coming from the power cord. If the proper voltage is there then the problem is internal to your device.

From your list of symptoms, my first guess would be that the connector for the mains has become partially dislodged from the PCB it is soldered to and therefore creating a very unreliable connection. If you're comfortable with dismantling gear and soldering things then that's the first thing to check.

If you're not confident with things like that, it's a job for somebody who is.
