Working with dynamic compression

Hello.

I was wondering if using the software I have I could give the sound of FM Radio dynamic compression to some of the songs. The reason for this is I want to give the music a good punch if you will.

So software I have available;

Waves Native Power Pack C1+, RCL (version 2.8 / this is Windows 98/2000 direct x era).
Sound Forge 6.0 - Multiband dynamics direct x

I don't quite know how to theoretically use these plugins, I just go by the "gut" but so far I haven't been able to achieve some good results.

Any advice is welcome, I hope I have arrived at the right place.

If you want to check out what I am looking for look on youtube for Megadance 1993 - Deep Dance 22 and 25. That's the type of sound I am looking for.

I just remembered that one of my father's friends worked professionally at the radio station.

The answer I got from him is the following;

First the sound goes through limiter, then through compressor and finally through something called exciter. My best bet is to figure this out with using Waves RCL, L1, C1+, Desser in some sort of combination. Or try multiband dynamics in Sound Forge 6.0 what I think I said originally.

Well, this thread may be closed.
