What are the send/return jacks on the back of a parametric EQ outboard gear do?

What should go in there? Reverb?

Taken me QUITE a while to find a suitable picture, mainly because YOU DIDN'T SHOW THE FEKKIN MODEL NUMBER!

Heh! Anyhoos, maybe you can see the principle? At some point in the circuitry there will be a "breakout" point that is nonetheless kept in circuit by the jack switch.

The standard operation is that plugging into 'send' gives a feed but preserves the signal thru' the rack unit. However, plug into 'return' and the link is broken in favour of an external device.

There will be other issues such as the operating levels of the S/R feeds and where in the circuit they are taken. Often these parameters can be adjusted.

Pretty much anything that needs 'EQing' ! Guitar amp, bass amp, kbd amp. Is the model number some sort of official secret?

Dave.

It's got input (presumably) and output connectors. Why would it also need send/return jacks, and why is "Stack" written above them?

It looks like a Rane product by the silk screen style. But this process would go a lot more smoothly if the OP had included the pertinent make and model info.

Most likely it's so you can chain multiple units for more bands of eq while using the input/output of one unit.

I found a Crate PSR2000 parametric eq that had the same connector panel, so it's probably a product that was sold under multiple brands.

Tone 'stack'?
