what cable to use for running effects through effects loop of my amp?

Hey everyone any suggestions on a good quality cable to run outboard gear through the effects loop of my amp?

Do you just use instrument cable?

Can you run instrument cable into a balanced trs input?

I know these may be stupid questions but i'm a newbie :D

Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated

The effects loop on your amp will not be balanced. Depending on the outboard gear, this should not be a problem using just an instrument cable. Read the manula of the outboard gear to find out if it will be OK with an unbalanced cable. You should be OK, there are only a very few things I can think of that would be hurt by this, and I doubt you happen to be using any of them.
 
Usually you use a cable that on one end has a trs(tip,ring,sleeve) connector and the other end is split with one end for send and the other for return. If your amp has a seperate send and return then you would need two regular unbalanced 1/4" cables.
