    Tascam 38 running backwards

OK, not sure what happened. I cleaned up the motors on my tascam 38 and the rewind motor ran great, but when I cleaned the play motor and put it back in it ran great, but backwards, other than that the deck is in good shape. Any help would be appreciated.

Did you take the motor out completely and reconnect the wires back the wrong way round? That would cause the motor to 'reverse'

It has three wires, I followed instructions posted on this site and the first motor went great and the second one seemed to but ran backwards

Double check the wires are in the correct position they were before and no solder has bridged on the connections. There is no other reason for the motor to go backwards.

Unless you put it in upside down.

I'm checking the soldering, it might be bridged

Did you correctly mark the coil inside and everything and put it all back as it originally was? I'd check that too.

If that fails I'd ask in the Analog forum as it's beyond me. I've cleaned the motors in my old Fostex before but never had motors go backwards.
