S/pdif?

Im new to digital recording, can someone give me an advise. I just bought a yamaha sound card, and it has S/PDIF out in it. what's that for? I know this sounds stupid, but i wanna learn!

USEDA , no, I'm just half-heartedly joking.

It is a digital IN/OUT (as opposed to "analogue"). You would connect another piece of your gear for transference of music without degradation.
