Question on possible software: Convert a Guitar Recording to Piano

Is there any software out there that would allow you to take a previously recorded piece and convert it to a different instrument?

What I would like to do is find some thing where I could play a piece on a guitar and then convert it electronically to another instrument.

Anyone heard of such a thing?

You have to mount a different P/U on your guitar or buy one with a built in synth P/U.

If you're trying to convert existing tracks there is some note detection software. Cubase has Vari Audio that will convert it to MIDI but I've never had any luck with it.
