PC Audio Recording Specs

Can anybody give me an example of a good stable audio recording set-up for a pc, eg: what type of mother board, type of processor, memory etc.

My budget will be up to about 250-300 british pounds. I wont be needing a soundcard and i might not need a main board, i have a main board in front of me rite now but dont know what type it is, but was told it will hold up to a gig in ddr. Is there anywhere on the mainboard that tells you the name?
