No clue, completely unknowing, help needed!

Hello, I am ultra completely new to sound recording, mixing, and all that stuff. All I want to know is

1. What Physical equipment do i need? (Recorders etc. (this is just going to be a hobby so I just want something cheap and fairly good.)

2. What are some free programs where I can mix, loop, etc. (mainly, not editing sound, don't care for editing the sound)

well you'll need some kind of microphone, i recomend the akg perception 200, its a decent micrphone for under 150, you can plug it directly into a usb interface like the lexicon omega which is about 200 and to make the microphone sound the best get a presonus tubepre which is about 100 but is amazing... but it all depends what kind of music you want to record,

Built in mics and not a bad price. Roughly $200 (USD)

See if it might work for what you're looking for and ask away on what ya don't get...
