new to recording with limited equipment

I am attempting to record spoken voice only.
Using Aphex microphone USB to laptop plus Audacity.
I am getting a background noise heard when MP3 recording is sent through computer to someone else.
The noise doesn't seem to be here.
Any ideas greatly appreciated.
