My name is Nick, new to the forum, and new to recording!
I am an aspiring twitch streamer, and after getting my first handful of donations, decided it was time to upgrade my microphone.
I decided to go with a Blue Yeti, because it was USB, I did not have to deal with XLR cables, amps, etc.
Now, it seems as though I have an issue!
I'm using windows 8, when I try to record, my voice is so faint, it's almost unable to be heard. I have to talk extremely loud (pretty much shout) with my mouth right next to the mic in order for it to pick up my voice at a decent level.
I've tried all the tricks like uninstalling it from device manager and plugging it back in, trying a different USB cable, but nothing. It's still very faint. I've played with the different settings (like gain on the mic and in windows), and I know the mic isn't muted.
I can use a 3/4 gain on the mic and a 7x boost multiplier inside of OBS and the mic is loud enough, but there is a lot of white noise.
I have seen countless videos online of people using the blue yeti and it sounds amazingly clear!
Am I doing something wrong here?
