Mic not recording on cool edit

Hey first timer here.

Trying to record on cool edit. Looked through the settings and it seems it knows my mic is hooked up. im on multitrack, got the r button pressed before i record but theres no signal. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
 
A description of your hardware setup will be necessary before anyone can help.

You might want to get software that's A) designed for multitrack recording and B) not a 13 year old crack. Cool Edit was a pretty darn good editor, but it's old and it's not that great for multitrack.

got an at2020 usb. its no drama i downloaded reaper and works a charm. lovely program and interface compared to cool edit lol
