M-AUDIO PROFIRE 610 w/ Macbook pro

Hey,

I was just about to buy this product but luckily I had to wait until tomorrow as I just noticed it runs of firewire 400. I have a macbook pro that has these ports. Which I think is firewire 800. So will this not work?

And also if not could anyone suggest something similar to it?
Im looking to record acoustic guitar and am also buying a pair of AKG 451b mics.

No worries, I have one cable that was 2.50 including shipping for my mobile rig and it works great.

If you use an external HD at some point (7200 rpm which is recommended) to stream Audio, then you get a ext HD that has FW800 and FW400 in/out. Then go FW800 to HD and FW400 out of HD to interface. The drive will run at FW800 speed.
Once your internal HD starts getting full your performance will decrease. If its and older MBP the internal HD is prob 5400 rpm. 7200 rpm are noiser and get hotter which is why they are not as common in laptops.
