How can I keep the vocals and throw out the music?

I know there is software to remove vocals from music. But is there a way to remove music and keep the vocals?

Thanks in advance :)

DeComposer from www.replayinc.com claims to be able to do it. It's a sophisticated filtering program where you have to specify the frequencies you want to eliminate.

It's far from perfect. Unless things are digital and on utterly separated tracks, eliminating the music will cut out some frequencies of the vocals, reducing the sound quality.

Here is something you might like to try with vocals.

I did a decent cut of Moonlight in Vermont with a Female vocalist.

Later, I wrote some words about my favorite golf course and sang them into an open track. Then, by careful mixing, I had the female's cut running nicely in the background of my vocal. Love to experiment. Although it may sound confusing, the final mix came out pretty neat.
