alright,

i'm new to production,,i started early last year.
read a couple of books,,,bought some things
(mpc 2000,,,roland 307 groove box,,,yamaha mixer
sp 808 sampler,,a zip drive for my mpc,,,computer,,
tascam cd turntables ,,,mini disk recoder)everything.
i've been learning fast,,,i have unlimited sounds and
time.i'm ok but i know for a fact i could be better.
my pattterns are barly even patterns,,,i'm not sure if i'm doing it right
on the real,,i rap,,and i was tired of waiting on producers so i became one.

is there certain ways to do patterns?

whats some the best ways to use my mpc?

i arrange all my finished patterns with an sp 808
by sampling the drum pattern then sampling keys etc...
is there a better way?

i can make this stuff talk ,,,how can i make it sing?

i'm dead serious about making my music better
i'm decent but i want to be great,,, what are some of the
techniques,,books info sites.anything

that would be tight

Well, I use the Roland MV 8000 (amazing) for my drums and such, so I record my patterns as a sequenced loop which is easier for me than trying to get all the timing stuff to work out.

Your idea of using your sp808 is pretty cool, but why not just have them sequenced already within your sequencer? I sequence everything through my MV 8000 and then record the Midi sounds to Cubase and master it there.

I'm not going to be much help with your MPC, but you can check out the forum on Futureproducers.com or MVNation.com. Mvnation is for MV users, but you can certainly find some info on there.
