Basic Hybrid Setup

Alrighty,

So, moving up in the game and need help troubleshooting current or potential issues with my new setup.

What I'm trying to achieve is good quality recordings of live practice sessions.

I have dynamic mics (guitars and drums) running to an A&H ML4000 analog desk.
All channels are on the main bus (no sends)
Main outs "stereo" to dual input audiobox interface to PC.
Running Studio One software with audiobox USB.

I've kept the channel gains hitting the output meter around 12dB on the desk.

The main issue I'm running into is that I'm hitting almost peak levels in my DAW even though the interface is turned down all the way. Any way to tail this back enough in case it bumps to clipping levels? No indication (as far as I can tell) of a way to affect the input levels in the software itself.

Also, for live recording in this manner, I assume that I want to have my software set to the highest sample rate.

Any help or insights, thanks in advance.

...XLR to interface.

You may be going from a +4 line output to a mic input that has too much gain for a +4 line signal. Try XLR-TRS adapters into the 1/4" inputs on the interface, or use the 2 TRK output.

Your signal levels on the console should be about 0dBVU. That is, they should go above and below that marking on the meter but not spend a lot of time on one side or the other of it.
