alesis multimix 16 firewire - question about its output true firewire

Hi All Toolman here just wondering the following

In relations to the following mixer im just wondering does it have the following

or from thier website

my question is does the unit output 16 channels true the firewire (for mixing on pc/mac) or does the unit only output 2 channel true the firewire ports for editing on pc.

Hi and welcome.

The site says "18 direct outputs for recording and 2 return inputs for monitoring" which in fairness could be analog,
but I don't see any output jacks so I'm gona say yes, it's discreet channels over firewire.
 
Hi Toolman,

With the Multimix 16 Firewire, you will be able to send 16 channels through FW in your PC or Mac.
With my band, we use it to record when we do play all together. So each instrument is connected to the Multimix (+ several mics for the drum), Multimix connected with FW to a Macbook Pro and each of the channel is recorded on a separate track in Garageband.
Afterwards, the mix is very easy.
