Acoustica Beatcraft Cymbals?

So I've been fooling around with Beatcraft for a little side project a friend and i are doing. It's deathmetal type stuff, if that even matters.

But my question is, how do i make the cymbals not sound so horrible? I've been fooling around with the EQ and compression, and I can't find a way to make them sound semi decent.

Help a newbie to the community?
 
The question is how should you make them sound good. check your levels before you play with eq or compression. Maybe they sound crummy in the first place and there a lost cause.
