Is it true that the industry uses high-frequency boost when recording digital sound for film, and HF cut later? If so can anyone tell me where to find the curve used

@ 32, 44.1 & 48kHz sampling rates, there is pre-emphasis and de-emphasis going on inside the typical converter. And those filters are not enabled inside the converter at 88.2Khz and higher. So it depends on your soundtrack project. But as far as adding and subtracting an eq curve for a custom emphasis, that's not standard. Even the emphasis circuit's EQ in a converter differ with chip manufacturer.
