    Cool Walking In The Rain

Here's a tune I wrote a few months back and never bothered with until today. Using an old Classical Guitar I rescued from a skip, a Kala Tenor Ukulele and a Glockenspiel that my wife's School was throwing out. (There were two Glocks, I made one good one out of the broken bits)

This is a rough mix down. I'm not finished with it yet. I have some editing to do, redo some of the Vocals. I want some more percussion in there as well. (The tapping is my fingers tapping the back of the Uke) I think I'll get a cardboard box in there somewhere! I have some more guitar parts to add in places and hopefully get my friend round to put some Violin on the ending. (That's why it's pretty blank at the end)

It's a silly song, it sounds very childish and whimsical and it was intended to be like that

    See what you think.

    Cheers

I like it. I don't have much to offer in terms of constructive criticism. It sounded really good to me all the way around. No problems really. Its as good as what many would claim to be a final mix. There were a couple of spots where the vocal level was just a tad to hot but you said its a rough mix. The instruments sounded great and it was a good arrangement. Well done

Nice little song. I liked most of the instrumentation. The only exception was that "rain sound" in the first section. That just seemed distracting. The other stuff was really good.

Singing is good. Nice harmonies. The vocals has a little harshness to them when you hit the bigger, more drawn out notes. Like an ear dart around 2700hz - 2800hz.

The bass is pretty boomy. It has some out of control frequency somewhere around 80hz - 120hz or so.

I like the guitar sound. The glockenspiel was a nice touch.

I know what you mean about the rain sound. I'm unsure whether or not that will remain. My original thought was to have the music lofi in the background of the rain, like an old radio in the distance but with the vocal upfront and prominent like someone singing in the rain. If you know what I mean. Ideally with footsteps and splash.

I'll look at the vocals Thanks

There actually isn't a bass on it. It's just the top string of the Acoustic plonking along under my thumb. I always was heavy handed. It's is quite boomy though, I had noted this when I played it back in the car earlier. It's on my to do list

Thank you for listening and commenting. Appreciated

Nice song. Sounds like something you would hear in a cereal commercial, and I mean that as a compliment! Professional quality.

I got no problems with the mix really. Everything sounds nicely recorded and mixed. The vocals are little hot at times, but not too bad. Love the uke and the glockenspiel. I don't know about the ending. It's your call of course but I don't think you need anything after about the 3:10 mark. Just fade it out.

    Cheers Greg. Appreciate the comments.

I've redone the vocals and added more guitar to end. Haven't had a chance to mix it yet though. I post it up tomorrow when I get done. I'm always of the opinion, less is more, so I'm with you on the ending
