I thought the acoustic guitar sounded nice. I thought the singing was nice. A bobbled note here and there.

I'd probably put the bass in from the beginning. When it comes in at :49 it's a bit startling. I think BGV's are loud and contributing to that as well. Bass level is a little uneven. Notes jump out here and there. The bass is probably a bit louder than it needs to be. Maybe pull it down a db or two.

I would turn down the BGVs 2-4 dbs. I might also apply just a bit (more) reverb to them They sound just as upfront as the lead vocal.

I liked that electric guitar sound on the right. Kind of lo-fi, but I thought it worked pretty well.

i might add a touch of reverb to the acoustic guitar. I like the song, at the very beginning i though it was a horse with no name .

I would not use a C1000 for vocals. I do not like those mics. The vocal sounds too middy. Try out the 57 on vocals or another mic you may have. Rode NT2 is a good mic for the price for vocals.

The electric guitars sound nice, well recorded. The acoustic guitar sounds thin, and almost as if it was converted to a low grade mp3 somehow.

Please can you comment on my mix. I have not posted in over a year.

    New SHORT sample!!

    Cheers,
    G

Thanks for the comments, I agree with the BGV and bass, I can't help but notice it now. I hadn't even hear 'a horse with no name' (promise)! But I do agree, very similar...

As for the thin acostic guitar, it may be because I just doubled one recording on two tracks...and with only one mic. I've since got a stereo pair so I'll have another go and re-up it

Did you copy and paste the guitar part? If so then nudge one of them further, as it seems that the phase difference is cutting the lows thus making it sound thin and lo-fi.

    Will25,

Fantastic, I really enjoyed your lyrics. In terms of critique. I noticed some middy buildup in the vocals, however it could just be personal tastes. I really enjoyed your song, it hit me deep. Several of your lyrics describe how I feel.
