original rock song- "Walked Away"

exactly!

as more players get into using the software IR's,
devices that have hard wired schemes like the palmer will probably be used less and less,
tho as you can tell from my recordings,
this little thing sounds great.

i've used IR's, but i haven't found anything that sounds that much better to me,
to stop using the palmer.

rock on!

A "simulator" is a "simulator" is a "sim". Be it hardware with a circuit or software - the point is they SIMULATE and aren't "real". If it sounds good it sounds good - there's no need to sniff that particular cork if you've opened the "simulator" bottle.

exactly ray!!
and it's a good thing for folks to know,
as they sniff the next best thing,
this older tech is still rockin!

there are MANY ways to simulate cabinets.

now, what's really cool, is this:

example #1:

artist_rig.jpg

the palmer is designed to sound like a sm57 close up on 3 different styles of cabs...

if you blend a 'miced' signal, in this case, a close mic shure ksm44, and blend those two,
or pan them hard left and right,
it just opens up a huge opportunity for multiple tones

now, example #2:
epi_and_ibby.jpg

when i was tracking the epi 12 string,
i tried every mic i had,
and just couldn't get the sound i wanted.....
ended up going with the direct,
and boom, it was easy.
