MayFlower (Acoustic)

Acoustic is clean and not boomy but has a lot of punch. It's really hard to get that.

I think the compressor(s) I used are playing a part in that. The recording is much more punchy and has almost too much attack on the hard strums. There isn't much boom, I agree, and that part is probably the positioning. Mic aimed around 13/14th fret, and a HP at around 60hz. I think I pulled quite a few db's out of 100hz and 200hz as well, on the guitar bus and the master bus.

thnx for the listen and feedback, good to know I'm on the right track.

Commitment is the way to go, IMO, the earlier the better.

That's why I still like to work in analog. :) Either on my Tascam 388 (8 track) or 246 cassette 4-track. Unless you're doing something very bare-bones, you have no choice but to commit when you're working with those parameters! :)

I'm just kidding really. I mean ... I am serious that I work with those machines, but I'm not trying to start an A/D debate here. Whatever works for someone is the best for them. Andrushkiwt gets awesome results, and I would never question his methods.
