I'm The King Of The World

My February 2018 song is "I'm The King Of The World". It was inspired by my daughter. I wrote it with all famous people in mind. I could have used Mel Gibson, Harrison Ford, or Paul McCartney. Think of it as if it was a interview with a famous person.

I completed every thing about this song, from the first word to the master. - I'm The King Of The World by Terry Carroll | ReverbNation

Leonardo Dicaprio
How does it feel I need to know
As you take your first step towards anybody's dream
does it get you inside
Does it make you wanna scream

Chorus

I'm the king of the world
You all know where I've been
I'm the king of the world
Now my ship has come in
I'm the king of the world
Living in the lap of luxury
Oh I'm here where i wanna be
Just lying in the sun living like a king

Leonardo Dicaprio
How do you deal with the highs and lows
As you make the big time living in the big money shell
Do you know life out side
Does it make you wanna yell

Repeat chorus

How much money do you make
what do you buy with it - where do you go
how much mail do you get
Do you tier of the fame - do you feel an undertow
tell us what it's like to be a star
How does it change the way you live
Does it change who you are
Is your heart in all you do - do you give all you have to give

The waveform at the start sounds like it may have been cut off? Allow a little silence at the start.
The synth/whatever it is (like a high steel drum) on the right gets ear-hurting during the choruses. The synth-sax part when it starts sounds odd (as just a few accent notes), then the solo doesn't quite work - handclaps in the center are a strange choice.

I'm wondering if the drum sounds might be a weak link? What are you using for them? It seems that the same snare sample is being triggered giving a bit of a Home Keyboard vibe? Bass sound is much more spot on I think.

It's a pretty cool composition. I'm not a fan of the keys/synth sounds you're using. The vocal delivery is good. I had a listen to She's so Hot which is pretty good too. Well constructed tunes

Cool song concept and a couple of pretty decent lines. I liked that.

I thought the tempo was a good 4-5 bpm too fast.

I liked the vocal tone. A double tracking issue or two around 1:37-1:38. Not bad tho. Vocal was pretty far out front.

Instrument tone in general was a bit thin. Sax solo sounds midi. Piano too.

Pulse synths worked well I thought. Just kind of thin sounding.

hi, i'm completely new and you may never see me again. with that said.....

that piano sound couldn't have less edge. that's just me.

i'm feeling that underlying pulse, though.

the references, to me, are a little on the nose. i feel like you're going for a melodic, simplified, storybook Beatles thing, but....bear in mind, i have no idea how to post on these forums! maybe this is out of line, but.....

i feel like i could write these lyrics. there's nothing personal about it. if i think about other storytellers - let's say Dylan or Rodriguez - they don't tell. they show you what they're talking about. sometimes i have no idea what Rodriguez is talking about, but it's ALWAYS profound.

"undertow" feels pretty unnatural. this is where i'm coming from, musically. feel free to ignore all this. i have no clout whatsoever in this realm.

Very listenable, nice composition, good tone and expression on the vocals.

On the one hand, while "lying in the sun" has some backing percussive/plucking sounds that connote beach stuff, might make this more frankly steel-drum like, and limit their duration, which precedes the lying in the sun (they begin with "i'm the king of the world") part, or fade them in/out.

Also, ?consider rework the e-sax solo and really blow or add some harmonies?
