absolutely nothing. Im sure record companies will be flocking to remaster albums for 6 channels to be distributed digitally only

While this is the first I have read of that format, I'd have to think that application of that format is not the main reason for it.

Why 6 channels? I'll bet it's because it's meant to be for 5.1 surround sound, to do for surround what MP3 does for stereo.

6 channels just insn't enough for end-user mixing or instrument isolation purposes for most mixes.

I could never see this taking off. I don't think the end listener cares to tweak mixes around.
